Celebrating 50 years in business

Donald Ackerson and his wife Grace founded the Blue Ridge Lumber Company in May 1960. The operation was started with a pick-up truck, very little capital, and a lease of a portion of the Read's Applejack Distillery building in Jacksonburg, NJ. Ever since the company's founding, the company has shown outstanding year to year growth and volume. Expanding the business required buying the distillery building in 1967, along with its eight acres. In 1973, Blue Ridge Lumber incorporated.

After over 30 years in the industry, Donald retired in 1992. His son Greg, now president of the company, runs the entire operation, including stores in Blairstown, Hackettstown, Kenvil and Ledgewood.
