Donald Ackerson and his wife Grace founded Blue Ridge Lumber Co. in May 1960. The operation was started with a pick-up truck, very little capital and the lease of a portion of the Read’s Applejack Distillery building in Jacksonburg.
Ever since the companies founding, the business has shown outstanding growth and volume. The growth required buying the distillery building in 1967, along with its eight acres. In 1973, Blue Ridge Lumber became incorporated.
After over 30 years in the industry, Donald decided to retire in 1992. His son Greg is now President and runs the entire operation; including our second store in Hackettstown, NJ, which was opened in 1998.
We owe our growth to hard work and the dedicated service of our people. Service has been a part of our past and will be a major part of our future. |
